allow my PC to connect wireless to the modem. But, i got a message saying " An administrator has blocked you from running this app for your protection." Thinking that my computer's Window Defender and Windows Firewall are causing this "blocking", I disabled my protection temporarily.
However, it did not work and I still get the message that this new app cannot be done.

I need help. Thanks.

✔ Best Answer
It's not an app. If for some reason you feel you need to update the driver for your USB wireless adapter, get the latest one available directly from D-Link, not an outdated one.

Do you get this message when you are Installing it or is it when you Run it after it has been installed?

Apart from Windows Firewall and Defender, have you any other security products on board?

EDIT:
I overlapped with the post above. I didn't realise it was a driver - #1 is good advice.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

riider, I have a D-Link disk and a Wireless AC 1200 Dual Band USB Adapter, which I tried to install. Before it can install, that's when I get this window saying: This App has been blocked for your protection.

I do not think I need an updated driver.

Derek, I get that warning after I click the Install botton. I am not sure if I have other security products in my PC but if I do, how would I find where they are and disable it?

Right click the file, go to Properties and see if it says it is Locked or Blocked (near the bottom). If so scan it with your Antivirus and if it says it is OK then uncheck the blocking and Apply your way out. Then try again.

The file did not say: Locked or Blocked (near the bottom). It only said: Read only, Archive, etc.
I tried and clicked all the headings from General to Compatability, etc and nothing showed as Locked.

Right click the file select Run as administrator - see if it runs then.

Otherwise there are a few ideas here:

If you do a google search for DWA-182C1_3.02b05.exe, you'll find it's the driver for the D-Link DWA-182 (Wireless AC 1200) wireless adapter, but it's old. If you're running Windows 10, that could very well be why it's being blocked. The driver for Windows 10 is 3.06.B04. Use the link in response #1 to download the correct driver.

My PC does not have internet connection at the moment and I communicate with you through my LapTop. I plan to "hot" wire the PC and run the link in your response #1. Will let you know the results. Of course, I will be out for a while to connect my PC.

I have not run the PC as Administrator since I do not have Internet connection. I will try riider's suggestion first and get that current driver and see what happens,

Not able to connect to the modem/internet by hot wire. Instead, I went to DLink and downloaded the new driver to a disc and plan to download the new driver copy to the PC. Will that work?

I followed your advise and downloaded the current driver to a disc and run the set up application in my PC. The DLink install prompted me how to do it and it worked. My PC now have a wireless connection with the internet/network.
Thanks a lot for the help.

Derek - Thanks for the efforts to assist me on my problem. I did not have the chance to try your suggestion because my attempt to download the current DLink driver worked.

Again, Thanks.
