It's not a driver problem, as Microsoft drivers for all makes of external hard drives are built into Windows, which is why external hard drive manufacturer's do not supply any drivers - they aren't required.

Your problem is most likely that Hitachi G drives are designed for Macintosh computers so they are supplied pre-formatted for the Mac OS. Windows cannot use that type of partition.

To use it on Windows you therefore need to delete the Mac partition, then create a new NTFS partition on the drive and format it for Windows.

The drive referred to in the solution is an Iomega hard drive which is also pre-formatted for the Mac OS. Your drive is a different make and model but the solution is just the same.
