I cannot get the Standard VGA Driver to install for XP

January 12, 2012 at 13:42:01
Specs: Windows XP, 1.8 GHz/ 2GB RAM
Good afternoon,

I have an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard and an ATI Radeon 8500 Series graphics card. I just reformatted my computer but the Standard VGA driver did not install and I cannot install my graphics card drivers until my VGA driver is installed or recognized.

I've tried to update the driver and to no avail. I've also attempted to uninstall the driver and reboot but the same problem arises. I'm not entirely sure what steps to take from here. If anyone could give me a hand I've be very grateful.

Thank you and God bless!

Hey There
it has been a long time since I used my MB but I am pretty sure you do not need the standard VGA driver. Make sure you have installed this all in one driver -- NVIDIA nForce all in one Drivers for XP WHQL first and you should be able to install the ATi driver

I appreciate your help, however I installed said drivers and the same thing happened.

I get a window that pops up saying:

- INF driver not found

- Install standard AVG Driver

It seems as though something's working since I can clearly use the internet on this machine and have visual. I'm not sure what the deal is.

You need to install the "NVIDIA nForce all in one Drivers for XP" from Asus first. Then install the Ati Graphics Card Drivers:

Thanks for doing your best to try to help!

However, I have installed those drivers for Asus and nothing has changed. I've downloaded everything from Windows Update and still nothing. I cannot locate the drivers on the Windows or Asus CD, thus I'm still lost as of what to do.

Everything in my device manager is updated except this:

Other Devices

- Video Controller
- Video Controller (AVG Compatible)

And every time I attempt to install my ATI drivers I get two pop up windows:

- INF Error
Video Driver Not Found

- Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display driver with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

If anyone else has any ideas I'd be very grateful!! Thanks in advance and God bless!!
