Specs: Windows 10, AMD A8/4 Gb
My thumb drive stopped working; I can not read any of the data on it. When I try to open the drive, I get a message that it needs to be formatted. I tried CKDSK (drive): /r and got error message: CKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

Thank you.

Is that what you typed or did you actually use chkdsk ?

Unfortunately Flash Drives can and do fail, which is why they are not used for serious backup situations.

This program is good although I've not tried it on a flash drive:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Dear Derek,

Thank you for your quick response. I will try ZAR X and get back to you with the results.
(I did try chkdsk before I contacted Computing.net).

Thank you.

Derek,

I tried the demo of ZAR and it worked fine but as a demo it only recovered four files. I purchased the actual version and I was able to recover about 75% of my files.

Thank you.
