Solved how to install belkin bluetooth on 64 bit desktop

August 15, 2013 at 03:52:36
Specs: Windows 7
I have purchased a belkin blue-tooth adapter v4.0. My system is 64bit windows 7 ultimate. Each time I try to install via the CD supplied the installation fails. I have noticed that all the comments refer to laptops, I just assumed that it would install on a desktop as well. I checked to see if my system was blue-tooth enabled but it was not.I bought this from Curry,s and was not advised otherwise.

Does it say on the packaging that this product will work with Windows 7?

When you install the software, what message do you get when it fails?

try to download the latest drivers from the belkin website

Hi andymacp,

Let us know the model of the Belkin blue-tooth adapter.

Is the same adapter working on a different system?

Thanks & Regards

Hi, both responders, it does state that it is suitable for windows 7 and 8. The model is a Belkin Bluetooth v4.0 EDR USB Adapter. On the Installation CD it states software driver and Manual. Each time I try to install it on my system the installation fails. This does not show any error reference, it simply will not install. I am beginning to think that I have wasted my money. Thank you both for your interest. Will wait for your remarks. Cheers ,Andy.
PS, I do have another system, Windows 7 32bit, will try on that and see how it goes. Will keep you informed. Tried to download new driver from Belkin but that would not open.

Many thanks for all your advice. Did exactly as you advised. It is now installed with no fuss. However it tells me that it can not find my blue-tooth device although it is fully pushed home on my PC. The indicator light is showing and it is in devices and printers. I have used a direct USB connector to my PC rather than a hub. What I will do right now is to shut down and restart the system and see if that makes any difference. Will update you shortly. Thanks again, glad I joined!!!

As stated I tried to install on 32bit windows. The installation was successful but cannot get blue-tooth recognised. It shows in devices and printers. The icon in the system tray says blue-tooth device not found. It is plugged in and is lit but system cannot find it. Any ideas fellow members. I have tried the Belkin and Broadcomm sites for drivers and downloaded them but with no luck so far. Hope this can be solved. I t is a mystery to me! Not a novice but not a techie either.

I installed on the 32bit system with no fuss, system cannot find the device. This shows on both 64bit and 32bit systems. I have connected the adapter directly to the tower and it is lit up. It shows in devices and printers but systems cannot find it.Any further advice would be appreciated. Thanks to all for their input, Andy.

The saga regarding blue-tooth is over. I uninstalled it from the 64bit system and tried re-installing. I instead of going to setup exe on the disc I tried viewing files and folders. Lo and behold, it gave me alternative setups for XP, Windows 7, or Windows 8. As asoon as I clicked Windows 7 away it went. Installed right away and as soon as the system restarted it searched for and found bluetooth and all is well. Thank you all who got in touch, your advice was invaluable and very much appreciated. Thank you all.
