How do I get my Logitech trackball M570 to perform properly? The device itself is working. It will move a cursor around the screen and can click to reopen icons on the bottom of my screen. However, it cannot open icons not previously opened by another device (Logitech mouse M215). Then when I use the trackball to move the cursor to an opened program on the screen (e.g., email or Word), the program immediately disappears. I suspect a driver problem -- but I'm way out of my element here -- and I don't know how to diagnose and repair.

Did you go through the unifying procedure here?:

There seem to be a lot of folk with issues and no answers.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Have you been to Logitech and downloaded and installed their latest drivers?

See here, "Setpoint" download:
http://support.logitech.com/en_us/p...
Windows > Choose OS > Windows 7 > Setpoint, then go to download button.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks for your response, Derek. I have tried downloading "Setpoint" first with the Smart install, then with the full 64 bit install. My computer continues only to recognize the mouse (Logitech M215) which I began using when the trackball stopped working. Hmmm. . . .

What is Device Manager showing? Can you access the Mouse Properties in Control Panel and check the configuration?

Thank you for your response, beachyhbt. The only pointing device listed in either Device Manager or in Control Panel - Mouse Properties is the Logitech mouse I am using. There is no listing for the Logitech trackball which I prefer to use. ???

Hi, Derek -

Thanks for following up. I've gotten an older trackball to work essentially by doing the stuff in the unifying procedure you suggest -- but mostly by hit or miss. For now, I'll put the issue on hold.
