Have you tried to plug it into another pc and see what happens?

have you tried to use another cable?

is there a way to 'reset/restore' this device by pressing a combination of keys/buttons?

if all else fails, take it to a repair shop or if you are comfortable opening such devices, open it up and have a look inside. not sure these things are 'servicable' but no harm in looking IF you are out of warrenty.
