how to enable a system driver

Specs: Windows 7 home prem...
my cdfs system driver is disabled and my cd/dvd rom has stopped recognizining any type of format . my dvd rw is an optiarc ad-7643s in an acer z5600 any help would be much appiciated. so far ive done all the obvious stuff ..uninstall , upper lower filters deleted , looked for drivers but unable to find any. divice says its working fine you put in disk it spins up then seconds later shuts off try to open it (right click) and it spits it out saying insert disk???????? HELP

So, did you look in Device Manager for your drive? If it is disabled in Device Manager, then it won't do anything for reading CDs and DVDs.

yes it is stated as working fine...and enabled. the driver is a generic cd rom driver..it wont populate but if you pull it up thru computer it reads full on empty space ...im not sure what else to do i think its may be the cdfs.sys file being disabled but the more i read i dont know???HELP please
