How can I shut down or block open com ports or serial ports on my PC to prevent Unwanted remote access? I asked a similar question about third-party accessing my PC and one of the answers they said they can only get on my PC through a comport or by virus or remote software. I'm still trying to fix it myself because I can't actually take it in for repair because I am unemployed at this time and I do need my computer to look for work

Access through a serial (com) port requires a cable connected ,directly to your computer (not the network cable). No-one is accessing your computer via the serial port (assuming your computer even has a serial port - most modern ones don't).

If you mean open ports via the internet and your home network - then a decent firewall will be a good start

Most routers - by default - have an active firewall enabled. If you think you're being hacked then there is an option to enable logging on your router; and that logs' information will tell you if you are being attacked (even if the attempt is unsuccessful).

Ensure that if using wifi you have changed the default access-key (and make a note or two of what you change it to...); and keep that record safe and know where to find it of course when required...\

Likewise if using wifi - wifi enable the mac filtering option; which allows you set up a list of which devices (computers, phones, tablets etc.) can access your wifi; the list requires the mac address of each devices network adapter to be on that list.
