Graphics adapter will not display greater tha

Specs: XP Professional SP3, Pentium 4 1GB
This problem is very like one report in the Daily recorder (No Answers). The computer was virused and after removing virii and doing a registry clean, the computer will no longer go into graphics modes with more resolution or color the 800 X 600 and 4 bit color.

The system knows that the modes are available. The slider goes over 10 1600 X 1200 and 256 bit color. But choosing anything other than 800 X 600 with 4 bit color results in the adapter going into VGA mode: 640 X 420 and 4-bit color.

The screen looks life safe mode but the "safe mode" labels are not on the sides of the monitor.

System is Lenovo running XP Professional SP3. There is a Samsung SyncMaster 204T connected to a SiS Mirage Graphics Card

I rolled the video driver back to the April 2005 version and the problem has gone away
