Gateway ESX 500S Audio Driver Problems!

December 20, 2013 at 22:47:54
Specs: Windows XP, P4 / 2GB
For some reason the audio is not working on this computer. I have tried to install the Driver multiple times, downloaded from both Gateway and Realtek, and always get message after reboot that Microsoft System Bus Driver should be installed before Realtek audio. Tried on different service packs. I've tried hot fixes and updates others said online fixed the problem. I've gone thru the new hardware wizzard, it couldn't find some of the files, so I downloaded them. When it got close to the end, i got a BSOD with portcls.sys. I don't know what else to do, and I've spent way to much time on this problem already. Thanks for your help.

Install the "Chipset Driver" for your computer model from Gateway first.
Then install the sound driver for your computer model from Gateway.

Never install drivers direct from Realtek unless it's a Realtek card that you've installed as an add-on. Only Gateway have the proper drivers for on-board devices. They are custom-made to match the hardware, Realtek doesn't have them even though it's a Realtek device.

I tried that, it didn't fix it at all. Any other ideas?
