External monitor - poor image

Hewlett-packard / Pavillion tx2000

Specs: Vista
I often connect my HP tx2000 laptop to an external monitor. a few weeks ago the laptop had a new keyboard installed but on return the device manager indicated that a number of things were no longer working properly including access to the internet and so on. I have managed to download some of the relevant drivers to repair this but there are still a number that have problems - mostly those starting with wan miniport ...

for some reason when I connect to a monitor the colours are overly bright and the image is poor. I have tried adjusting the contrast, brightness, colours and appearance settings they have no effect on the problem . The image res is correct, the drivers are installed and when I use other laptops it is all fine. Could it be something to do with the Wan miniport network monitor that is not working (I cannot locate drivers to reinstall)?

Any help much appreciated.
