Well, it's my friends laptop that I'm trying to fix. It was infected with a virus and blue screens upon startup. The Windows Logo and progress bar loads up and it starts to load Windows, but then it blue screens.

So...I've been trying to re-install the OS, but it tells me it can't find the drivers for the hard drive (disk controller chipset).

I've been trying it but it always tells me it can't find a hard drive.
I've tried Startup Repair, System Restore, and Windows Complete PC Restore but it won't do anything because it won't find my hard drive without the drivers.

Is the hard drive recognised in BIOS ?

Go to the hard drive manufacturers website and use the Bootable CD Drive Fitnes Software to see if the drive is bad !
