Changed OS from XP to Win 8 and have no sound.

Specs: Windows 8.1
Upgraded from OS win xp to win8 and have no sound. I have a realtec HD sound card. I have downloaded every available driver for this but nothing works. Was thinking of getting a usb sound card but I don't see any for windows 8 32 bit.

More than likely the manufacturer of your PC or laptop does not support Windows 8 on that particular model because it's too old, so they haven't released any Windows 8 drivers for it.

You can't just upgrade Windows XP to Windows 8 and expect everything to work like it did on Windows XP. You are supposed to visit the PC/laptop manufacturer's website first to see if they have got Windows 8 drivers for that model.

You can either keep searching for a sound driver that works or re-install Windows XP.

It is appreciate that #1 was not the nice neat answer you wanted but there is a lot of truth in it. You have not given the make and model number of your computer so a generalised answer is all that can be given.

To play sound you obviously need suitable drivers. Most likely there are none available which is why you've not been able to find any.

Found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/PC-Trading%...
I can't vouch for it personally but I can't imagine it being too good at that price. I realise it is a UK website but I'm in the UK and have difficulty doing a proper search "as if I'm from the USA". Err.. I'm assuming you are from the USA.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
