Can't find the right driver.

Intel / 82802eb ich5
August 10, 2010 at 22:55:48
Specs: Windows XP, Pentium D / 528
I just reformatted, and the only thing that doesn't work is my sound card. I used AIDA32 to find that I needed a driver for a Intel 82802eb ICH5. I tried several downloads (including the Intel website: it's not there, and driverguide which I'm not paying for). None of them worked. Where else can I find this thing. If I had hair I'd be ripping it out.

Try the motherboard manufacturer, HWINFO32 will give the info:

http://www.hwinfo.com

By the way Intel do not make Sound Chips, the Sound Chip is tweaked by a manufacturer to work with the Intel Chipset Drivers, hence why downloading several hit and miss is a pointless exercise.....

Right you are. I tried HWINFO32. Much like Aida it reads:

Motherboard: Unknown
Chipset: Intel 865G (Springdale-G) + ICH5
Bios Date: 08/16/06
Bios Ver.: P2.60

Now what?

I should have been looking for a C-Media Driver, not an Intel Pack. Managed to find it finally. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction X86. Much appreciated.
