cannot be formatted =( ?!?!?!?!?

Specs: Windows XP
sandisk cruzer edge 16 Gb was working on win 7 for a couple of days then won't open , says (not formatted) , & when i try to format it it says (cannot be formatted ) ..
i tried formatting it using another pc , a win XP , didn't work either ...
please help

Flash drives do go bad, far more often than the manufacturers will admit. If it's fairly new, you should return it for an exchange/refund.

mavis , I tried this program and it said ( device is write protected )
I hope I'm going somewhere ?!??!?!

the problem is that i can't return it to store, it's bought from another country =\

tried that now (because the Sandisk cruze edge doesn't have a lock switch )
, but still HP format tool says ( device media is write-protected ) =(
pleeeeeease don't say it's corrupted =\ ...
