Audio driver on Benq Joybook Lite U102

September 17, 2011 at 01:48:09
Specs: Windows XP, Atom N270
I got this joybook as second-hand. It did have Win XP and all the drivers installed, when I got it (though no restore partition). But, it had viruses, so I reinstalled by copying my XP CD to a USB pen drive. I also downloaded all the drivers from the Benq website here.

You can see that the page says "audio driver for windows xp", but after downloading the big 57 MB file, I saw that it didn't have any WinXP folder, though it does have Vista folder. The setup fails when run on this XP netbook. I've also tried downloading from another of Benq's websites but the same thing happens and the XP folder or drivers are missing. I wonder how the previous user installed the drivers, but he's unaware of it.

Can someone please help me get sound on this netbook up and running?

Regards,
Deboo

... this download selection points to Audio (R2.31) file unpacks and does display xp folder

... once unpacked perhaps run "setup" from DRPSuPacker\drp\HD_Audio folder(?)

Only the folder -

2691_motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia-ati\DRPSuPacker\drp\HD_Audio

contains the driver files and there's no XP sub-folder within this folder. The XP folder you mention, is outside this folder and is for the installation of a driver utility called driverspack. There's no difference in the driver I downloaded from Benq's website and this one except for the addition of driverpack utility.

But thankyou for trying to help. It's appreciated.

Error code: 0xE0000227 Common problem with Realtek Audio Driver installation

1) open device manager click "system devices" disable "microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio"

2)uninstall "UAA bus driver" make rescan devices (Note: Not all had this step. You may want to skip it.)

3) install realtek driver the realtek driver includes the UAA driver too.

Thank you mavis, your solution worked! I removed UAA completely and tried to install the driver and it went through without any errors.
