Solved Atheros driver uninstalled, won't reinstall.

Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium
I accidently uninstalled the Atheros wireless driver from my laptop and could no longer access wifi internet. I googled how to fix the issue using a different computer and have tried a system restore to a much earlier date, I have tried downloading Atheros on a different computer and transferring the files via a memory stick then installing them manually but nothing is working, it just tells me that "Windows was unable to install your Network Controller" and that it "could not find the driver software for your device" despite me selecting the files I downloaded for Atheros on the other computer.

I really need to get this fixed, any ideas on what else I could try?

Did you download the network driver from your laptop maker's website? That's the only place you will get the correct driver. And also you must ensure that it's for your specific laptop model and for your version of Windows before downloading it.

The error "unable to install driver" usually happens when it's the wrong driver. It either doesn't match the device or it's not for your Windows version. Double check.
