Asus missing system32\drivers\pci.sys I have a Asus Eee Pc1

Specs: Windowsxp, not sure
I have a Asus Eee Pc1000HE notebook with no cdrom I dont have any kind of software When I try to start it up it keeps saying missing system32\drivers\pci.sys I have a USB 4GB flash drive And I also have a USB Floppy Drive Any help would be awesome thanks How do I fix this.

I think that with the lack of a CD-ROM drive (with which you could have run the repair process from a borrowed Windows XP CD) you will have to perform a Factory Recovery:

Switch off your notebook.
Switch it on and during the boot process, press F9 three times
(you may have to switch off and try again if you didn't press F9 soon enough, or pressed it too late).

When the three presses of F9 is properly detected, it will look as though Windows is trying to start just like before, but that's how the recovery process works so be patient.

I guess you might be thinking "I can't do recovery because it will destroy my files and I don't have backups!". I am sorry but that's why keeping backups is so important for several reasons (Windows failure, hard drive failure etc.).

Thanks Phil I tried this several time and its still doing the same thing. It goes through the same thing and goes back to same error message Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt system32\drivers\pci.sys
