What kind of 'game card' is this? I thought they were a prepaid card containing information that allowed you you to play online games but the way you're describing it, it's something physical you're inserting in the computer.

Anyway, a 201 error should be a memory/RAM error. You may have bad ram. If it's an older computer you may need a new cmos battery. If so that may cure the 201 error.

You would change the boot order in cmos/bios setup but if the battery is dead some of those old bios' didn't know what to do and wouldn't boot from a hard drive until properly set up.

It would be helpful to know the model, specs and some history (how it's been working previously) of the computer in question. Get back to us with that info .

✔ Best Answer
If it's truly an original Compaq Portable (image here: https://zdnet2.cbsistatic.com/hub/i... )

then you may want to head to VCFederation ( http://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum.php ) where they're far more familiar with very old machines. Not discounting the crew here, but few deal with IBM PC/XT class systems like the crew does there...

Realize that, as a new member, your posts are "quarantined" (don't show up immediately) there. This is to verify that you're a real person (and not just someone spamming that forum).
