Toshiba T1100 plus Memory test

Toshiba / T1100

Specs: ms dos 3.2, 2 GHz / 2814 MB
When I start my Toshiba T1100 plus and the memory test begins it only tests up to 256KB instead of the 620KB that it should normally. What could be causing this and is there any fix for it?

oh yes, also, could this prevent the computer from booting correctly? I have been having trouble booting it up. It requires an ms-dos 3.2 boot disk, which I have, but it seems to either go through the memory test again or just keep spinning the floppy disk drive. I have removed the memory circuit board and it still continues to stop testing the memory at 256KB.

Assuming it actually has 620 (640?) K it's possibly a jumper setting. I'm not sure if your laptop will have that but on older 8088 desktops you often had to specify the memory with jumpers or a DIP switch.

I'll get those disks sent in a few days.
