POS system in Dos 6.22 keeps rebooting

Specs: DOS 6.22, PIII 600E
Dos 6.22 POS system on old hardware. Put together new hardware and all seems to load and post BUT at the last point before the program would start it just reboots. I wonder if the program (Magic Touch) cannot handle the 256MB ram in the system. If it can only take 32-64MB would it kick it off and reboot the machine? Everything else loads like Lantastic, the LAN card and the MS Lan Manager, the touch screen and the serial card. No issues there, just when the FDINE directory starts.... reboot. Thanks, I am going crazy trying to fix this.

If it is ram try it with just a 32 or 64 meg stick. Or maybe edit the emm386.exe line in config.sys or just REM it out altogether if the software will run on 640K and see if that makes a difference.

Sometimes there was timing problems when running old dos software on fast (relative to what was around when dos was king) systems. Although you'd usually end up with just an error message.

In an event, the software manual/help file or whatever is available should give info on acceptable ram and cpu.

Real men don't use AntiVirus; they just reformat
