Solved need to run legacy dos software on windows 7, 10

Specs: Windows 10
hi, looking for the best emulator or virtual machine to run legacy business software - not games.
After looking at dosbox, vdos and freedos, seems to me that the best option is to install MSDOS-6.22 on a virtual machine (vmware). If I understand correctly this would be the closest to the original dos environment - or am I missing something?
My client's very particular about having an environment as close to the original DOS -with all the COMMAND.COM options - as possible - on a windows 7 system.
Really like to hear your opinions on how I could best achieve this.
Thanks for any help
David

Thanks for this, think this is the way I'll be going.
Can you tell me if I can use DOSprn for printing from the virtualbox - where would I install DOSpn?.
Thanks for your help
