Solved I want to make a boot up disk that will run .exe file

January 19, 2014 at 09:52:40
Specs: Windows 7
I am trying to make a cd that when placed into a laptop and then when powered up boots to an dos and then runs a .exe file. The exe file is a program that scans a hard drive for MS Key codes. I want to use it on systems that have crashed and are unable to run the operating system. I have looked all over the internet for help and assistance but to no avail. Any Help would be most welcome.

Yeah, that's a no-brainer.

You'll have to have your burner software create a bootable cd using dos system files. It's probably easiest if you do it from a computer with a floppy drive. Since you'll be using it for scans on a hard drive, remember dos won't natively see SATA drives or drives partitioned as NTFS and drives with fat32 partitions will need a 'newer' dos version--FreeDos or something like win98 dos.
