i have a hdd with solidworks installed on it

Specs: Windows 7, 3.00ghzPentium4-2MB tp 2.93 Intel Core 2 Duo-4MB to
I have an old computer that has a hdd with Win XP and Solidworks 2007. Can I just install this hdd as a second hdd on a new Win 7 machine and have access to the SW2007?

No, you have to setup a dual boot manager since your application is installed under XP so not accessible from Win 7. By the way take a look at the following post

not quite sure what solid-works is, but XP formatted hard drives don't work in win 7 computers unless they are formatted with NTFS. FAT and FAT32 tend to lose packets on their way to the CPU and programs may not load right.
