How to use hard drive comming from broken PC

October 22, 2010 at 23:51:10
Specs: Windows XP
My dad has a financial program only working with DOS. The PC on which the software was running is now broken and he would like to use the hard drive from the broken PC and put it in an other one. However, when he tried to do that he has some problem. Can you tell me how we can transfer the hard drive without having to reinstall everything? Thank you for your help

Stephanie

Install the drive as slave. You will still have to set up a suitable DOS environment, Or setup a new DOS machine,

Stephanie - If you do not already do so, regularly take copies of the entire disk.

Depending on usage, daily might be necessry. (5, 6 or 7 generations).

Also test the restore works, before you need it in earnest.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
