how to format c: drive on ms dos 6.22 version with out losing the program ? question:
format c:
unformat c:after doing this 2 steps I lost my program.
If the FORMAT command created a mirror file then UNFORMAT should work. If UNFORMAT can't find a mirror file then some recovery is usually possible. That assumes nothing else was written to the drive between those 2 commands. You don't format a drive and expect something to be there afterwards. If you want to save something then copy it to another media before formatting or use the DEL and DELTREE commands to remove everything except what you want saved.
Also some info on the command (and links to software that may be able to help) here: http://www.computerhope.com/formath...

Backup your C drive to another drive or USB or media disc, and format C:
Hi there.
USB support in dos 6.22 is going to be hard to set up. That assumes a computer running 6.22 even has USB ports. A computer of that era will have a hard drive, floppy drive and maybe a zip drive.
