To install any OS on a system that contains none you must a bootable media and a means of importing the OS code and data. This might be a floppy, CD, or USB drive. What do you have?

Put the drive in another PC / Laptop and install MS-DOS, also copy over any other data /drivers /software you will need later to get on the internet etcetera....

X86 - surely it is not that easy to start swapping discs around from laptops?

MN you wally, just have to buy an IDE adaptor and put in another PC, what is so hard about that. It works, have done it. MS/PC-DOS is not tied to hardware like Windows. Surely even a novice can remove a hard drive !!

If he lives in the UK I will send him an adaptor FOC...

X86 - Hi, I accept it is easy with a PC desktop or tower, but as I queried, surely it is more difficult when a laptop is involved, especially when someone who appears a novice is involved.
