How can I remove a - from the middle of a filename.

October 18, 2017 at 21:04:49
Specs: Macintosh
I have several files that I want to standardize the naming with dates.
Some are using "Acct1234-2016-12-15.pdf"
All should be "Acct1234-20161215.pdf"
naming format.
How can I do that in Windows DOS-V6.0.6002?
Can I do it more easily on the Macintosh?

Try a batch/bulk renaming utility like these two:

Hi Mach1,

if you only have a few files, I think it best to change names using Windows.
Right click on the name and select the Rename option.

I have no knowledge of Mac functions, which may offer same facility.

It is unlikely to be able to use regular dos, as only allows manipulating names with a maximum length of 8 characters.

Good Luck - Keep us posted
