Error message when running SPSSPC in a virtual DOS environ

March 8, 2012 at 05:17:36
Specs: Windows 7
I have installed a virtual machine on my computer, with a VMWare Workstation, to run my old SPSSPC-software (and others). Installation of the virtual machine and DOS 6.22 went almost surprisingly well, but when I tried to run my old SPSSPC software I got the error message "Divide overflow". I while ago someone in this forum said that this had to do with the clockspeed of the computer, that was too fast, and that there were numerous patches on the web that could fix this. Could someone point to one such patch and explain how I go about? Thanks a million.

Jolicloud pointed out you the best tools to slowdown a DOS environment; if you need a very slow virtual machine, you can install open source Bochs

http://bochs.sourceforge.net/

that is a true full emulator not a virtualizer, so slow but enough to run DOS. Bochs however is not a friendly application, while fascinating, so I doubt it is for you.
