Loaded DOS 6.22 from CD on to Compaq Notebook. The DOS partition was 2GB. Computer booted perfectly. Then, I attempted to load Windows XP via CD onto a 7Gbyte Partition. I received a message from BIOS inviting me to boot from CD. I hit a key to say "Yes"
The computer simply booted into DOS 6.22
I tried then to attempt Windows 7. Once again, computer booted into DOS 6.22.
I then decided to delete the DOS partition.
I was then able to load Windows XP.
I would be grateful if anyone could suggest what the problem might be.

Make sure you install to the partition/drive not containing DOS.When the XP setup is complete, it should give you a boot menu that will allow you to choose between Windows XP and DOS.

I've setup several dual boot systems but never with DOS as one of the OS's. You may need a boot manager. Here's an oldie but a goodie, along with a review: http://gag.sourceforge.net/
