Solved dossetup.ini -- editing

July 11, 2011 at 14:31:55
Specs: XP SP3, AMD Athlon
Am trying to create a bootable DOS installation CD, using my 3 legal M$ 3-1/2" floppies. It appears that the DOSSETUP.INI file needs to be edited, to bypass its demand to swap out floppies during the installation process. A listing of the before & after of that file edit would be appreciated, along with a suggestion of which editor to use. If other edits/mods are required, please advise.
I want to do this to both archive DOS and to prepare a CD to be used to install DOS as a virtual machine in VirtualBox -- am new to VBox and can't figure out how to get it to "see" the floppy drive.

Check my # 3 here:

It might get you started. A lot of people have asked about installing dos from cd but I couldn't find anyone that said they'd done it and how. Be the first and riches no doubt will follow!

Thanks, DAVEINCAPS, for the response and referral. I've been Googleing, searching, and reading all sorts of suggestions, but as you said a year ago there doesn't seem to be solid evidence of success. I've installed DOS on an HDD using the floppies, and that at least gives me a set of EXPANDed files to use. Maybe I'll just give up on my idea, and create a bootable CD containing the installed layout. Or maybe go to another version of DOS that will lend itself to what I'm trying to do. And make a fresh copy of the MS-DOS floppies from time to time. It would be nice to know what edits of DOSSETUP.INI "James1982" tried.
Thanks again for your help.
