dos 6.22 cd-rom read speed

Specs: dos 6.22
hey dos pros. i just started running dos 6.22 on my other hard drive and i have the mouse and cd-rom and pci sound card all working. ive been using voyeur (the cd-rom fmv game) as the test disc and i finally got it to play ... but ... the audio/video of the fmv parts plays at about double speed. it seems like the information is being read off the disc too fast.
im using the generic cdrom.sys as the driver because its the only one that dosent kill my conventional memory. is there a switch on cdrom.sys where i can manually configure the read speed?

Did you make sure you were loading the other drivers into high memory? CDROM.SYS doesn't support anything really speed related, but XCDROM.SYS allows you to set the controller to a lower transfer speed, which may help (though I suspect a bug in your decoder).

Yeah, you need to run MEMMAKER to configure config.sys and autoexec.bat to maximize the lower 640 K.

VIDE-CDD.SYS is a smaller cdrom driver you might want to try.

thanks for the drivers guys, but its still no dice. i tried xcdrom.sys with the lowers data rate (/M0) but i think its just something weird about voyeur. i tested my system with phantasmagoria and harvester and everything works like a dream!
and btw, i run himem and emm386 with dos=high, umb, but the only thing i can fit in high memory is my mouse driver. it does come in handy to get that 10k out of the way though.
one more thing, i wouldnt recommend putting cdrom drivers in high memory because it can freeze your computer, as i learned when i ran xcdrom.sys in high mem.
thanks again.
