CDROM connected to Jazz 16, not detecting

March 15, 2010 at 12:07:23
Specs: Windows XP, 16mb
I have rebuilt my old p1, and put in the old hardware it came with. Found my Jazz 16 drivers, and they installed correctly. My cdrom wouldn't work through IDE and found out it had to be plugged into the Jazz 16, and that it was a Mitsumi drive so plugged it into that port, with a normal IDE cable. After the Jazz 16 drivers load, it would say 1 CDROM installed, the cdrom would read and flash the access light, then it would say cdrom not found. Can anyone help?

Sadly there is no model number on the drive, but did some googling and found out it was a Mitsumi using the FCCID.

Yeah, it has a proprietary interface and won't work with atapi drivers.

Post back contents of your config.sys and autoexec.bat.

You're not really green until you're soylent green.
