windows xp will not recognize sony handycam

February 18, 2011 at 13:44:56
Specs: Windows XP
I have a Sony SR45 camcorder-I have tried everything to download and upload videos. The Picture motion Browser program installed with the camcorder disc will play the videos. When attempting to do this in My Pictures folder/file I get no results. It is not recognized but shows as a video in the file. I have even gone to Windows XP help to check on the driver issue as this device is not recognized in the My Computer, Cameras and Scanners feature. This section of windows recognizes my printer and Olympus Camera but not this camcorder. Windows says I have the correct driver. What else can I do? I surely need help. I have been at this for two weeks now off and on and no matter what I do or try I get the same negative results.....HELP! And thanx for your attention to this matter.

It is not recognized but shows as a video in the file.

So are you saying the file is already on your PC? What is the file extension? Do you have the right codecs installed to view that video?
Have you tried VLC player?

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
