why some types of avi extension is not readab

Specs: Windows XP
for example i have converted two different files with mkv format to avi format(to do this i have used a converter software)but one of two files is readable in my home divx player while other is not readable in my home divx player.why?

Assuming you used the same Divx settings in the converter, I would suspect that it didn't burn properly.

I use Format Factory to convert.

Gspot can check the codecs of the converted files, to see if they are the same.

It might be one of the mkv's has a compressed header, use Mkvmerge to sort this.

thankyou very much.but the converter software proposed by you is a trial version for download.moreover i have used many famous converter softwares but this occurrence repeated again.
