Solved why does niether LCD screen or v-find show image to be recor

Specs: Windows Vista
when pointing cam at image to be recorded both LCDscreen and viewfinder are blank
cannot see images i wish to record
all other functions on DVD cam ars working perfectly
LCD screen shows all functions.ie.menu etc.
can view previously recorded discs cards etc

Well, I'm sure you took the lens cover off. If it was working previously then most likely it is one of the above and in any event not really a user repairable fault (unless you are well into this sort of thing). Just for info if you take things apart then there can be a capacitor that is charged, which can zap things if you touch them before discharging the capacitor.

Could be a problem with the sensor or shutter. Likely it would be a factory fix. Is it still under warranty?

cam has not been used for 5-6 years therefore no warranty
