Specs: Windows 7
I own a Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop with Corelxp3 installed and Picasa 3 and Windows dvd maker on it. Yet, when i burn DVD-R and it plays on the computer ok, it won't play on any dvd player I own. One is a new Sony player and one is a Panasonic combo player. Both play dvd-r's that I have recieved from other people! Am I missing a step that finishes the burn process? I'm very frustrated....thanks!

Well the disk has to finalized, but I suspect the problem isn't the dvd per se, but the format the movie is burned in. Are they Divx encoded, are they an AVI files are they mpeg-2 movies......answer those and you will probably find your problem. I suspect the format you are burning the movies in is not supported by your playback devices.

Thanks. Why and how do I know that the disk is finalized? How do I know what format the disk is burned in? It's written on the DVD player that it supports DVD playback....I'm not sure where to look or how to change it to what it needs in order to play on my DVD player. I'm using a Flip Video Camera for the movies and a Kodak Camera for the pictures. Can you advise?
