hi, i m using windows XP service pack. i cropped a photo in ms paint and clicked "save" icon, assuming i would be asked to overwrite the original/create a copy or the program would have already created a copy to edit. This was obviously not the case.i now really want the original uncropped picture back. photos are saved on my hard drive. many sites/programs make specific reference to "deleted files"/"overwritten". But i want to recover, specifically, an original image after being cropped.
I think you have lost the original, a SAVE does just that, save, you should use "SAVE AS" in future... Irfanview gives one more control over editing photos and it is Freeware...
Before editing or modifying any picture or video, Make a backup to a dvd or cd and check the copy. Also make a backup before erasing any memory card or camera storage.
