It is easy to lose your data from toshiba if you reset the computer to factory settings. First of all, it is better to make a backup.

With any make or model computer if you do a factory restore you will loose your personal stuff and any programs you have installed. That is one reason why you should always back up your own data (as a minimum).

If you back up the entire system hard drive with disk-imaging software, there'll be no need to perform a factory recovery or make a separate backup of your data as it will be automatically included in the disk-image.

Furthermore, a home-made disk-image can be restored much faster than a factory image, and avoids re-installing all that trial software and bloat that many of us will have spent several hours getting rid of.
