Hello all, got a problem when opening MP4, also Jpegs from my Samsung S10.. Message Says We can’t access the file for this item. If it’s being downloaded or has just finished being downloaded, try again soon. Otherwise, make sure that another app isn’t using the file and that you can access the place where the file is stored. I have not that recently downloaded them, been on for weeks.

They are my own personal property from my own Mobile, photos videos I took, why cant I open them??

Thanks, Gep

Were the files (content) on your phone and then downloaded to your computer?

If so - how did you do that?

It "may" be that you didn't actually download the files; only created links to them on your computer.

Hello Trvir, downloaded them from Phone USB onto desktop then transferred them into a folder.

Thanks, Gep

Exactly how did you download them...

One normally uses something like iTunes or any other similar app to transfer the to the computer. Equally one can use shareit type utilities to the same end.

Simply copying and pasting from source to desktop will merely give yoiu a file name and path to where they were at the time of the "copying".

I'm more familiar with iPhones tnan Androids so others here may advise based on their Android experience.

However.., this link discusses approaches which mirror what I say above; and suggest options...

And if you repeat my google trawl/search using:

how to copy mp4 and jpeg from samsung phone to computer

as the search term/string..

you'll find the above link and many more besides advising you accordingly...

I found this - specific to to the Samsung S10; might be useful read too?

https://devicesupport.swisscom.ch/s...

If you use the string/search term below in google you'll find the above and other useful links too.

how to copy mp4 and jpeg from samsung S10 to computer

Edited per trvlr to correct a mistype

Android OS is more user friendly when it comes to copying then the iOS system. You can see the files and folder structure in Windows Explorer on an Android system, and copying should not be a problem. I do it all the time from computer to phone and vice versa.

It does sound like you are just creating a shortcut to the file rather than copying it as trvlr suggested.

Plug your phone into your computer and launch Windows Explorer. Find the files you want to copy on your phone, right click on them and select "Copy". You can hold down the CTRL key to select multiple files. Then go to the location you want to transfer them to on your computer, right click and select "Paste".

Hello THX 1138, & Trvir, have downloaded and they play ok. Thanks a lot.

Have a problem Deleting the Old ones that failed to play/open.
Message says I need to have permission to make changes to the Folder when I click on delete.

I am the Administrator??

Have tried Safe mode, got rid of the Folder, but not 15 individual MP4's

Thanks, Gep

I've used this "hack" in Win7....it may (or may not) work for Win10:

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/win...

Be forewarned, however...it's fairly involved (if you've never tinkered with the registry) and can really mess things up if not followed to the letter....and this might be an easier option:

Thanks for your suggestion, Gep

"...T-R-A, had a look, a little bit above my pay grade. Need a brain for this,"

Well, with the second link it's pretty straightforward (and it works on XP, I tried it myself). Not sure if it's meant for Win10, but apparently this is:
