Photos will not open on my MAC

Specs: Macintosh
Uploaded my photo from SD card now they are all alias and I get this message: The alias “IMG_1984.JPG” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.

If they are still on the SD card remove it then delete the alias (shortcuts) from the Mac if you can find them.

Then try again using the procedure given for SD cards here:

If they are no longer on the card then you are in trouble. All you can do is search the Mac for the jpg files themselves by name.

Sounds as though you simply copied and pasted them to your Mac, rather than importing them (via iTunes, iPhoto etc...)

Incidentally I use a utility called iMazing in place of the Apple default apps. Does everything iTunes does and allows a lot more in terms of options.
