Nikon SB-600 setting problems

May 11, 2013 at 19:32:02
Specs: Windows XP
I can't reset my SB-600 (following the difficult instructions in the manual) and I can't get the flash to fire when used with my Nikon D300 set on P or A. Efforts to return the flash settings to default haven't proved successful. I can get the flash to "M Zoom" but not "Zoom", and I can't persuade it to show "iTTL". Any ideas please?

When electronic zoom is not selectable, it may mean the batteries are flat and need replacing with fresh ones.
Drained batteries would also explain why the flash itself won't actually flash.

Thanks Phil,

It's a mystery, and I've now sent the flash off to Nikon NZ for examination. The batteries were new, and then replaced by other new ones, and the test button fired, so I don't think it's batteries. I'll post a report if and when I have some success. Thanks again, Lindsay
