Solved Nikon P520 Died - won't turn on or charge - only 7 months

Specs: iPhone
My Nikon P520 camera stopped working. It only shows the green light when plugged in to my PC. No sound, no display etc. I have pictures on there that I would like to get off of it. I am hoping they are in the internal memory. Any suggestions?

No idea if you can recover the photos.. But.. if it's only 7months olde then it's under warranty so contact the vendor and Nikon and push for a resolution, a solution; and a replacement camera too? I wouldn't trust that particular camera again having failed whilst still new...

I took a quick look at the specs for the camera and didn't see
anything about internal memory. What it did say about memory
is that it takes SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.

Are you sure it has internal memory?

Where is the green light located?

What all have you done regarding the battery?

Here's a link to the manual, it took a long while to load on my PC so if it seems like a dead link, wait it out for a bit: https://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/ma...

On page 236 of 244 it lists the storage:
Internal memory (approx. 15 MB)
SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card

Have a look at the troubleshooting section.

1. Did you hold down the HOLD switch for several seconds? (On top, next to Shutter)

2. Have you inserted a different battery

3. Is the camera really not starting, or is it instead the display is black.

4. Have you tried inserting a different SD memory card? Many of the SD cards now will cause some cameras to freeze, either because they are too high capacity (older cameras) or SDHC (older cameras) or not formatted properly, and other reasons.

Hold down the HOLD Switch
Use a different battery
Use a different SD card.
See if flash works and it is not just a black display.

I can not guaranteed that you can get off the pictures. It has been 7 Months! It's possible that the pictures are overwritten and not exist on the camera or SD card. But you can still install a data recovery software on your computer. I used iBoysoft Data Recovery and it worked perfectly. Usually iBoysoft were able to recover the files but it can only recover data up to 1GB. If you want to recover more files, you have to buy the pro version of the software.

I think this tutorial will be helpful: http://iboysoft.com/data-recovery/d...

Connect your camera or SD card to the computer and then run iBoysoft. However, if your computer won't recognize the card or camera then no recovery programs will fix it. You have to send the camera or SD card to a repair center.

I hope it worked for you.
