The battery(and spare) are fully charged with the green light flashing when plugged in. No power on camera when unplugged. Read that this was a problem but how can I download new firmware into a camera with no power?( Understand that new firmware solves this problem.)
Thanks Phil and I did try but to no avail. However managed to get it ''powered'' up by taking the battery out and replacing a few times, even with power lead connected and no battery. Had read about this simple solution but it did'nt quite happen right away and so I tried here. After that I had the new firmware downloaded on a memory card and so immediately uploaded this on to the camera. So far the camera is working as normal and hopefully the new firmware will stop this problem happening again.
I had the same problem, and solved it.the reason was i inserted the usb cable to hdmi interface. this made a short cut in hdmi interface. sorry that i can not use it any more and device didn't open anymore. I solved the shortcut problem and device is working properly again.
I can not get the camera to turn on at all no matter what I try (thanks for the suggestions above), so I can't figure out how to apply the new firmware level. Any other ideas or do you think I have to go to Nikon for help?
