Thats a good question. For some reason there is a Windows XP tag at the top of this post (no idea why), which might have confused us. If it is Windows 7 as per your spec then you need the EXE fix from here instead:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...
The same thing might happen but we need to be sure you have tried the right one.

Otherwise it would best to run System Restore, selecting a date/time before this happened.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

http://filext.com/WinXP_EXE_Fix.reg

Download that. Double click on it. It'll ask you "are you sure you want to continue" Click "Yes". You should now be able to run your apps.

Try this one:
Download

1. Save the .reg file to your desktop.

2. Right click on the downloaded .reg file and click on Merge.

3. If prompted, click on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK.

4. Log off and log on, or restart the computer to apply.

First try the EXE fix from the list here (see instructions on website):
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_ass...

Restart computer afterwards and see if that helps.

If not try the LNK fix on the same website.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
