Mini-DV video cassetes incompatible with iMovie

Specs: Macintosh OsX lion
I do have many mini-DV video cassettes ( Sony Camera DCR-PC350E).
I want to digitalize my movies with iMovie.
Problem : this Sony material is not compatible with MaxOsX lion.
Can someone help me please.

How are you transferring the FILES to the Mac ?

What file designation .MP4 >MOV >AVI ??

I connect my camera to the iMac with a USB cable (USB streaming)

I called up the Sony help desk and they told me its only working on Windows !!!!!

Does the Mac recognise the Sony ?

If so use Finder to locate the files on the Sony and post back what format the Videos are in, as already asked...

You need to transfer the files to the MAC first before you can do anything with them..

I thought the Sony could record to “Memory Stick Duo” which is limited to 128MB size, if so get a card reader to read the memory card..........
