Specs: xp
I currently have an external hard drive and would possible like to save to cd or internet photo site. For the cd, i don't know which type. As for intenet storage, I am looking to save photos and files. I have tried different site. Do not like flicker. I do like smugmug but it does not save files. I also have a sony HD camcorder and i can't find a site to save it to. When saving files to internet site i don't want to have to save pic by pic. I would rather save the folder. Can you help. Sorry there is a lot of questions here.

Thanks Cassandra

One thing to remember, when saving pics online for FREE you always run the risk of that program shutting down in time and you having to scramble to save your photos. Happens all the time.

Burn your pics to CD's or DVD's and stick them in a safe place for when you need them. Try to avoid using thumb drives as they seem to go corrupt more often than not. Thumbdrives are good for transfering files on a temporary basis.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Yes, burn it to CD's or DVD's. For real important data make at least two copies, store in a cool, dry, and dark location. Check them occasionally for readability. The life of CD's has been much shorter than advertised.

I know this may sound dumb but what is a thumb drive. Is it like a memory stick. Any feelings on the smugmug site. Thanks

A thumb drive is a memory stick with a USB connection. I regard to outside sites, access, permanence, capacity, reliability need to be determined. You still need to have your own backup copy.
