My situation is a little different.

I re-encode MKV files because my (ancient) media player can't deal with the audio. Excellent picture no sound.

With DVDFAB re-encode from MKV to MKV with the highest settings and I have audio. I have also done this from MKV to MP4 no problems and zero compression.

Does it play as an mp4 on the computer? If so it is possible the conversion is not to the standards for your TV. There are some online converters that could be worth a try.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
