Copied items are save to the Windows Clipboard. If you "paste" into WordPad or Word, the last copied picture will appear, but then you can only save it as a WordPad document.

However, if you have Microsoft Picture Manager (part of Office) you can paste a picture in to that and save it as a standalone picture.

Data on the Clipboard is automatically lost when you restart Windows.

The picture you copied is not directly saved as a file, you need a program to save it for you, such as Paint.

Here are the steps to save the picture:

1. After you copied the picture by right clicking it, open Paint program. To open Paint, click the Start button, on the search box type "paint". The search result will list Paint at the top, then you click on it.

2. Now the Paint program is opened. Click on the Paste button to paste the picture into Paint. After you pressed the Paste button, the picture you copied will be shown in Paint.

3. To save the picture, pressed the Diskette icon. You need to specify the file name, the file type and the directory to save the picture. You can use jpeg as the file type. Click save. Done.

This might be of interest:
Although no "viewer" is supplied with Windows 7 you still use the clipboard the same way as always.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

So if you try to drag them with the mouse from their original location to a new one nothing happens?
